IT Operations

Managed servers, on-prem and in the cloud, run as one estate.

Uzado manages Windows Server, Linux, and SQL Server across Azure, AWS, GCP, VMware, and Hyper-V for businesses across North America. Hardened, patched, monitored, and backed up under one operations team.

What it is

Managed servers, defined

Server management is the discipline of keeping every server (Windows, Linux, SQL, hypervisor, cloud workload) hardened, patched, monitored, and backed up. Done well, it is invisible. Done poorly, it is the source of every audit finding and most incidents.

Most SMBs run servers across two or three environments: a cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP), a hypervisor cluster (VMware or Hyper-V), and a residual on-prem footprint that did not move to the cloud. Each environment tends to acquire its own tooling, its own patching cadence, and its own way of recording change. The result is configuration drift and uneven security posture.

Uzado runs the entire estate as one managed environment. The patching cadence is the same across cloud and on-prem. The configuration standard is CIS-aligned regardless of where the workload lives. The monitoring data and the change log live in one place, and they are the same evidence we hand the auditor for SOC 2 Availability or ISO 27001 Annex A control coverage.

What's included

One operations team across the estate

Windows Server

Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and 2025 patched, hardened, and monitored. Active Directory, file services, RDS, and IIS workloads supported.

Linux servers

Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky, and AlmaLinux patched and hardened to CIS benchmarks. Configuration managed through code, not snowflake servers.

SQL Server & databases

Managed SQL Server: indexing, backup verification, transaction log monitoring, query tuning, and version upgrades on a documented cadence.

VMware & Hyper-V

Hypervisor management, capacity planning, snapshot hygiene, and VM lifecycle. Migration from VMware to Hyper-V or to cloud is supported.

Azure managed services

Azure subscription management, resource governance, cost optimization, and Entra ID integration. Landing zones built to Microsoft's CAF.

AWS managed services

AWS account hierarchy with Organizations, IAM hygiene, security baseline, and ongoing operations. Designed to pass a SOC 2 control review.

GCP managed services

Google Cloud project structure, IAM, VPC design, and workload operations for businesses across North America standardized on GCP.

Patching & monitoring

Patch cadence honoured by environment (test, staging, prod). 24x7 monitoring with alerts triaged before they reach your team.

Why managed servers

DIY drift is the most expensive line item you do not see

Server hygiene is the silent killer in mid-market IT. Patching slips, configuration drifts, monitoring goes stale, and the estate slowly becomes harder to defend. The cost is not visible until it shows up as an audit finding, an outage, or a ransomware path. Managed server operations reverse that drift on a documented cadence so the estate stays defendable.

How we deliver

A five-step engagement model

01
Inventory & audit

Discovery scan with Lansweeper plus manual validation. Build a single estate view across cloud, on-prem, and edge.

02
Hardening to CIS benchmarks

Apply CIS Level 1 baseline as the starting standard. Document deviations where business need demands it.

03
Patching cadence

Define maintenance windows by environment, automate the rollout, and verify post-patch health. Critical CVEs get expedited paths.

04
Monitoring & alerting

Performance, health, and security signals piped into Uzado's SOC. Alerts triaged; only real signals reach your team.

05
Continuous improvement

Quarterly capacity and performance review, annual architecture review, and reporting against SOC 2 Availability and ISO 27001 control evidence.

FAQ

Common server management questions

Can you manage cloud and on-prem servers as one estate?+

Yes. Uzado runs Windows and Linux across Azure, AWS, GCP, and on-premises hypervisors as a single managed estate. Configuration management, patching cadence, and monitoring are unified so you do not pay for one team per environment.

Do you handle SQL Server upgrades?+

Yes. Version upgrades, edition changes, and Always On availability group reconfiguration are part of the scope. We sequence the work around your business cadence and run rollback drills before cutover.

What patching cadence do you operate?+

Standard cadence is monthly for non-critical patches and within five business days for critical CVEs, scoped per environment with documented maintenance windows. Cadence can be tightened for compliance scope (PCI requires faster paths for some categories).

Do you support Linux and open-source workloads?+

Yes. Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, Rocky, and AlmaLinux are supported. Common workloads we manage include nginx, Apache, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, Redis, and containerized applications on Docker or Kubernetes.

Can you integrate with our existing backups?+

Yes. We integrate with the backup tooling in place (Veeam, Acronis, Azure Backup, AWS Backup, native database tools) or recommend a managed backup service through Uzado. Restore testing is included on a documented cadence.

How does this fit into a SOC 2 or ISO 27001 programme?+

Server management produces the evidence auditors ask for: patch reports, configuration baselines, change tickets, and incident records. Uzado's Managed GRC pipes that evidence into Vanta, so server operations and compliance evidence collection are the same workflow.
